This Contest was created by Becca Cornwall, Crawford County 4-H Art Project Jr. Leader
Shake the dust off those pencils, crayons, and pens that may still be sitting in the bottom of your backpack! This summer drawing challenge is open to all ages. While you can get a head start on the drawings now, each new challenge will officially begin on Mondays and end on Sunday nights. Each week, the newest drawing challenge will be posted on the Crawford County Wisconsin 4-H Facebook page, along with any tips that Becca might have regarding it. Go up against your peers for the best drawing of the week, and have fun along the way.
Week of Monday, June 29: Patriotic
Draw something that makes you think of America. What a great drawing challenge to do this week. Happy Independence Day!
Week of Monday, July 6: Favorite Animal
Is it a Holstein? Or maybe a German Shepherd? Let’s not forget about the Wisconsin State Bird, the Robin! Those are just some examples. Choose your favorite animal and draw a picture of it!
Week of Monday, July 13: Plant or Flower
Draw a picture of your favorite plant or flower. You could sit outside and enjoy the outdoors while drawing, and maybe even find some inspiration!
Week of Monday, July 20: One Drawing, One Color.
Draw a picture using different shades of the same color. For example, you could choose different shades of green, such as hunter green, lime green, and blue/green.
Week of Monday, July 27: Portrait
There are many options for this week! You could draw a family member, a friend, or anyone else you know. You could even draw yourself!
Week of Monday, August 3: Insects
What is an insect that you find super cool? Bees, ants, grasshoppers, and dragonflies are just a few that come to mind. Choose your favorite, and then draw a picture!
Week of Monday, August 10: Mythical Animal
Draw an animal that might not be real. Some inspiration may come from unicorns, dragons, griffins, or any other creature from a fantasy world.
Week of Monday, August 17: Favorite Character
Who is your favorite character from a TV show, movie, book, comic, or game? Pay attention to the little details and draw a picture of them!
Week of Monday, August 24: Backyard
Go outside and into your backyard. Stop and observe. What is something that you see? Choose something from it to draw.
Week of Monday, August 31: Shadow Drawing
Hold an object over your piece of paper and trace it. When you are done tracing, turn your shape into something else. For example, hold your fist over the paper and trace it. Add long ears, eyes, a nose, and whiskers. Now you have a rabbit! Be creative and imaginative during this drawing! The opportunities are endless.
We want you to keep the drawings you spent so much time on each week!
Take a picture of your drawing and submit it to Amy Mitchell at firstname.lastname@example.org by Sunday nights at midnight of each week. The pictures will then be sent on to Becca and will be posted and judged by the following Wednesday. Good Luck!
